Alderwood Medical Practice opened it’s doors to patients for the first time on February 16th 2015.The practice is friendly, modern and well equipped with facilities for the disabled and elderly with easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs. For patients arriving by car; the entrance to patient parking can be found off Wolverhampton Road.
The Alderwood Team consists of a dedicated staff of four GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a Practice Nurse, a Healthcare Assistant and administrative and reception staff.

The Practice aims to provide all patients with high quality, effective health care in a safe and caring environment.

Blood test

Please read before booking your blood test

Blood tests in the community are by appointment only

Blood tests in the community are by appointment only and are available to patients aged 5 years and over. You will be turned away without an appointment. To book a blood test appointment please follow the instructions below.

  • If your blood test is a ROUTINE request, please use the online booking system to book your appointment within 10 working days.
  • If your blood test request is for PLANNED TREATMENT, please use the online booking system to book your appointment for the required date.
  • If your blood test is an URGENT request, please use the online booking system to book your appointment within 3 working days.
  • For URGENT and PLANNED TREATMENT blood tests, if there are no slots available across all venues to book within 3 working days, please call the Urgent Phlebotomy Line on 01902 442607 (9am – 12 noon Monday to Friday) to book your appointment.

Important – Please Note:

  • You will be turned away without an appointment
  • Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for your appointment
  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes late for your appointment you may be asked to rebook
  • Patients aged 5-15 must be accompanied by an adult
  • New Cross Hospital bookings are for ADULTS ONLY (18 years and over)
  • Cannock Chase Hospital bookings are for patients aged 10 years and over. Patients aged 10-16 years must be accompanied by an adult (18 years and over)
  • All available appointments are detailed online – please use all venues
  • Fasting appointments to be booked for no later than 11am
  • You are not required to bring a printed blood form to the appointment; however, a blood request must have been made by the relevant health care professional in order for us to complete your blood test. Where there is no blood request on the system, you may be turned away and asked to rebook accordingly.

Adapted Clinic

If you require a longer blood test appointment for reasons such as:

  • Sever needle phobia
  • Additional needs
  • Restricted mobility

You may benefit from the Adapted Clinic on a Thursday afternoon. Appointments for the Adapted clinic are bookable by calling the urgent phone line (01902 442607, 9am – 12noon Monday to Friday)

Please note the Adapted Clinic is held at Pendeford Health Centre on a Thursday afternoon. Alternatively, Cannock Chase

Genetic Testing

If you require genetic testing blood sampling, please ensure each person requiring a blood sample to be taken each have an individual appointment. Failure to comply with this may result in you being turned away and asked to rebook accordingly.

How to book your blood test appointment

To make a blood test appointment, select a venue below to get started!

Please use all sites to ensure your blood test is undertaken within the timeframe requested to help avoid delays to your treatment or diagnosis.

You will receive an SMS text message confirming your appointment details to the phone number inserted during your booking.

Please attend on your own unless you are under the age of 16, you need support for language, mobility, memory or other additional needs. Only one chaperone per patient will be allowed into the clinic room where appropriate.
